Project Second Chance teams Humane Society of Monroe County dogs with teens from the Monroe County Youth Center to give them
both a "second chance"
The Humane Society of Monroe County is very proud to be a part of Project Second Chance. The program will have dogs awaiting adoption from the Humane Society of Monroe County
onsite at the Monroe County Youth Center for three weeks. During this time, the teens will work with a trainer and be responsible for feeding, grooming, training and caring for the dogs. In
addition to preparing the dogs for adoption and socialization, the youths develop responsibility, empathy and compassion. The youths who choose to participate are asked to fill out an
application and then a group of people select those who would best serve the dogs.
When the dogs are adopted, a letter from the youth who trained the animal will be presented explaining the training the dog received.
Graduates of Project Second Chance still available for adoption
